Known as the “Paint Mines” and near Calhan, Colorado. The park has a bathroom, parking and “four miles of trails”.
The landscape is popular for the many colors displayed and it is said that Native Americans once used the clay and sandstone an estimated 9,000 years ago for paint and creating pottery and for stone arrowheads.
These formations below are known as “hoodoos”.
